Language courses with a teacher
As every year, free language courses are offered during the summer period to students selected for Erasmus mobility grants (study or traineeship) who have accepted the grant.
French, English, Portuguese, Spanish and German courses are intensive - 30 hours each. Attendance of at least 70% of the course will entitle students to access a final test. A language level statement can then be requested upon passing the test (see relevant section).
For each language, 2 courses of lower and higher level are offered: the students who are eligible to access the courses will be able to decide whether to follow just one course or both, considering that it’s not possible to attend a course of a higher level without adequate skills and language knowledge. The same rule applies should a student want to sign up for courses of different languages.
Please note that, for all courses, explanations will be offered either in the language that is being taught i.e. German, English, French, etc. or in Italian. English will not be used to explain concepts or grammar rules, unless the course is the English one.
NOTICE: during the first lesson the teacher may evaluate the student’s eligibility to the course through a placement test (in the absence of a language certificate – even issued by UniGe – or without proof of having passed a mandatory language exam, consistent with the level of the course on the part of the student). Those who are not eligible may not be admitted to the course. The courses are specific to a given language level, and in order for classes to be effective, students in the class must be of the same or a very similar level. Students signed up for 2 courses, lower and higher level, failing the final exam of the lower-level course will be automatically removed from the higher-level course.
How to sign up for courses
Only those eligible to access a course will receive an email with all the details about the courses between the end of May and the beginning of June 2026.
The booking forms will be on AulaWeb and only those who register within the indicated period will be able to access the courses. Meeting this deadline is essential for the correct organization and management of the courses.
Bookings open between the end of May and the beginning of June.
2026 Courses: where and when
The courses are expected to start from the middle of June 2026 and will follow the schedule already available on the bookings page (for some courses the schedule will be available later).
Classes will be delivered remotely in synchronous mode via Teams. In order to be able to attend, it is essential to register on UniGe Microsoft Office 365 and UniGe Teams (using exclusively one’s own matriculation number) following the procedure here.
Receiving a level assessment statement
Those who attend at least 70% of the classes will be able to access the final test. Upon passing the final test, it will be possible to request a language level assessment statement, following the payment of a €16,00 stamp duty (to be paid for each requested certificate). The request must be sent to erasmus.clat@unige.it clearly indicating name, surname, matriculation number and course for which the certificate is requested. More details will follow via email.
