The Italian courses are reserved for international Mobility students (Erasmus+ and similar), who’ll participate in the placement test.
Lessons will be held exclusively in person.
Following the tests, a number of Italian 50-hour courses - level A1 through to C1 - will be made available to students in the first term. There are not organized Italian courses of C2 level.
Lessons are held 3 times a week, each lesson lasts two hours. Each student can attend only one course per semester, for a maximum of 2 courses during the same academic year. Students who have added the courses to their learning agreement will be allocated 2 CFUs per course at the end of each course and only upon passing a relevant test.
Only students who have attended at least 50% of the hours, are allowed at the final exam.
The 2 credits are not accompanied by a grade but they are comparable to a positive assessment (idoneità).

Term 1
Students interested in attending an italian course with teacher in the first term must take a placement test that will be held, exclusively in person, on October 23rd, 2025.
Students interested in attending these courses must communicate it to the Settore Flussi europei e internazionali (coopint@unige.it) by October 17th, 2025: only those who are in the list we’ll receive from that office, will be able to sit the placement test (and so to be placed in an Italian course with teacher).
Also absolute beginners must sit the placement test.
Classes will be probably start in the first week of November.
In order to be moved to a course of a different level than the one you were placed in based on the test results, students must attend their assigned course in the first week of class for and ask the teacher to be moved to another course: the teacher will evaluate and possibly accept the request.
This office will only accept requests from teachers and not from students. Students will not be allowed to change course after the first week of class.
Only those who sit the placement test, will be included in the Italian courses with teacher.
Term 2
Informations about the placement test of term 2 will be communicated on January 2026.
To obtain a level assessment statement (certificate)
We remind all those who passed the final exam of the course and need a certificate of level, to write to: erasmus.clat@unige.it providing your name, surname, matriculation number, level, teacher’s name. In order for the statement to be issued, the payment of a 16 Euro stamp duty must be made. It will be the Settore Sviluppo Competenze Linguistiche that will send you the link to the virtual payment.
